IPL Photofacial

What is an IPL Photofacial?

A Photofacial or "fotofacial" is a procedure that takes about 30-minutes. IPL uses intense pulses of light which go straight into the pores of the skin, causing blood vessels and collagen to contract below the skin. This eventually reduces the appearances of aging and inflammation. There is little to no discomfort during this procedure and the effects are gradual, appearing up to a few weeks after treatment. The FotoFacial RF™ is an additional procedure which gives more prominent results, by combining radio and light waves.

Who is a Candidate for this Procedure?

Individuals who have large pores, discoloration, wrinkles or even sun damage would benefit to receive this treatment. IPL can also improve those affected by rosacea. This procedure works best on pale/white skin with some elasticity. Ideally, the procedure will improve overall skin texture by minimizing pore size, wrinkles and getting rid of discoloration.

Who Is Not a Good Candidate for Intense Pulsed Light Treatment?

Individuals with naturally dark skin can sometimes experience changes in skin pigmentation after this treatment. If you have an olive to dark skin tone, it is recommended that you consult a doctor prior to this procedure. Moreover, those who are taking  Accutane® should not get this procedure until at least six months after they stop using the drug. Pregnant women should not receive this treatment.
